These movies are leaving Netflix at the end of the week

(Stacker) – May is historically the start of blockbuster season, the time of year when Americans flock to theaters to see movies with the flashiest special effects, the biggest names in Hollywood, and the most astronomical budgets. If you’re looking for a more low-key and less expensive viewing experience, there’s always a night on the couch with one of Netflix’s many offerings. However, if you have your heart set on a particular film, be warned that big titles are leaving Netflix in May.

There are quite a few reasons a movie might leave Netflix; perhaps its rights are no longer available, or its popularity doesn’t justify the cost of licensing.

The days are numbered for a handful of recent franchise favorites on Netflix. The “Hunger Games” movies have apparently volunteered as tribute— and will all leave Netflix on May 31.

Stacker compiled a list of every movie leaving Netflix in May 31st. There are also supplementary insights from IMDb on each movie’s director, cast, and runtime. It’s time to start planning those summer movie nights!
