A music festival run by popular Australian band The Rubens has been cancelled, leaving thousands of revellers disappointed.

ValleyWays festival was set to go ahead in mid-February at Camden’s Onslow Oval, southwest of Sydney.

The festival featured a stacked lineup of Australian acts such as Grinspoon, Ball Park Music and Ruby Fields.

However, a notice on the Ticketek website notified customers tickets were no longer on sale, and the event had been cancelled.

“It is with a heavy heart, that TEG MJR and The Rubens are announcing that ValleyWays is being cancelled for 2024,” the notice read.

“We understand that costs of living pressures and rising interest rates have severely impacted patrons, particularly in regional areas like Camden.”

The notice added it simply “isn’t the right time for this ambitious music festival to take place”.

The Rubens said they were, however, committed to their vision and said the festival would be returning in a new format in the future.

Disappointed festival goers took to the festival’s event page to share their disappointment at the news.

“Shame this has been cancelled,” one person said.

“So disappointed it is cancelled,” another added.

“When are refunds happening? I’m still waiting,” a third asked.

All ticket holders are set to receive a full refund, Ticketek said.

This could, however, take up to 30 business days to appear in accounts.
