There was no shortage of refined glamour among this week’s best dressed stars. On the red carpets, A-listers such as Ariana Grande, Lupita Nyong’o, and Hunter Schafer all embraced spring silhouette that were elegant and refined—and heavy on the sprightly colors and floral prints. We know: Florals, for spring? Turns out, they can be groundbreaking.
At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, for one, Ariana Grande stepped out wearing an Oscar de la Renta mini dress shaped into a flower petal. (Very on theme for the upcoming Met Gala, which has a “Garden of Time” dress code.) At the 2024 Brooklyn Artists Ball, actor Rosamund Pike also slipped into florals—only hers was via a Dior embroidered skirt, complete with a structured white blazer. Hunter Schafer, meanwhile, went with a more abstract print at the GQ Global Creativity Awards in New York City: Her Marni frock was reminiscent of a van Gogh painting.
Upbeat colorways also had a moment on the step and repeats this week. At the 2024 Fashion Trust Awards, Janelle Monae shined in her bright red Sergio Hudson power suit. For an appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show, model Kaia Gerber went sky blue in her Tod’s tube dress—a silhouette recalling ’90s minimalism, when her mother Cindy Crawford was dominating the fashion world. Proof that some designs will never go out of style.
