So it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that an electrical fault in a hot tub was fatal.

A 43-year-old man from El Paso, Texas was electrocuted and his wife, 35, was left in critical condition after being zapped while enjoying a dip in a hot tub at the at the Sonoran Sea Resort in Puerto Penasco, Mexico earlier this week, according to the El Paso Times.

The victims, identified only as Jorge N. and Lizzette N. as per Mexican regulations about naming victims, were in a hot tub Tuesday evening at the private resort when they were shocked, according to the General Prosecutor’s Office for the state of Sonora. Early indications are that the hot tub had a possible wiring failure.

“Our best friends have experienced a horrible accident,” said a GoFundMe account created for the couple. “Jorge had a heart of gold and was always there for family and friends. The love they shared was one for (the) ages.”
