Teen held at gunpoint over toy pistol at Forestville house party

A teenager wearing a toy pistol was held at gunpoint at a house party in Northern Sydney at the weekend.

Police were called to the party on Boree St at Forestville at about 8.30pm Saturday when the host reported many uninvited teens had crashed the event.

Upon arrival, attending officers were confronted by about 150 people, mostly teens, in the street.

“It’s alleged the group failed to cooperate with police and began throwing glass bottles towards the officers,” police said.

“During the incident, officers approached a 17-year-old after being alerted to a suspected firearm in his waist band.

“The teen complied with their directions and officers removed the item from his waistband, which was confirmed to be a toy pistol.”

Video posted by the Manly Observer shows the teenager with his hands behind his head surrounded by several armed officers.

“What is going on … it’s a costume,” one person yells.

“It’s a fake gun,” another says.

Police said the crowd dispersed after about an hour.

No officers were injured in the incident.

Inquiries are continuing.
