Ted Cruz’s Hurricane Beryl Warning Goes Spectacularly Awry

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) received a stark reminder of an ill-advised vacation after warning about incoming Hurricane Beryl.

The Donald Trump loyalist on Sunday shared a video from Jim McIngvale (aka “Mattress Mack”), the founder of Gallery Furniture in Houston, offering help “if things get bad” when the storm hits.

“Mack is an American hero,” wrote Cruz. “Stay safe & avoid high water as the hurricane makes landfall.”

The post, though, inevitably prompted critics to remind Cruz of that time in February 2021 when he ditched his state for Cancun, Mexico, during a record cold snap and winter storm that killed 246 Texans.

“Instead of storm warnings, Texas sends out a text whenever Ted goes to the airport,” responded on person on X.

Added another: “Cancun Ted says what?”

Hurricane Beryl is expected to make landfall in Texas, between Galveston and Corpus Christi, early Monday.
