Taylor Casey's mom: Bahamas police doing 'bare minimum' to find her

(NewsNation) — Nearly two weeks after Chicago resident Taylor Casey went missing from a Bahamas yoga retreat, her family says investigators have not shared any new information about her case.

“No news, no information about, you know, where Taylor is or where Taylor could have could have been. Nothing,” Casey’s mother, Colette Seymore, said on an appearance on “NewsNation Now.”

Casey has not been seen since the evening of June 19, when she disappeared from a yoga retreat at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat, where she was taking classes to become a yoga instructor.

Casey’s family, including her mother, returned to Chicago after traveling to the Bahamas following Casey’s disappearance, but Seymore says there have been no updates since then.

“Since I’ve been back here in the States, nothing. I haven’t heard from any of them. I’m not sure the FBI is involved. You know, I heard somebody say it, but I don’t think it’s happening,” Seymore said. “It was very hard for me to get back on a plane and come back without my child. Very hard and no answers.”

“I think the investigating team, the Royal Bahamas Police, they’re doing the bare minimum,” Seymore added.

Efforts to locate Casey intensified Thursday, with K-9s joining the search. Authorities hope to locate the yoga enthusiast’s scent.

Owing to the retreat’s vast, remote nature, local police began using drone technology to search for signs on the western end of Paradise Island.

The 41-year-old was visiting Paradise Island as part of her interest in yoga. Casey had taken the trip to acquire additional certification.

In an emotional interview, Seymore spoke directly to her daughter, saying, “I believe in my heart that you’re alive. Get in contact with us please. We love you and we miss you and we need you home with us.”
