Sydney travel agent allegedly cancelled client bookings without telling them and pocketed money

A NSW travel agent has been charged after allegedly cancelling her clients’ bookings without notice and pocketing the money.

Last month, police received reports the travel agent was allegedly failing to honour the bookings.

“It will be alleged that 16 different people made bookings through the agent that were later cancelled without their knowledge, and no refunds were issued,” NSW Police said.

The 53-year-old woman was arrested at Kingsgrove in Sydney’s south on Friday about 7.35am.

She has been charged with 16 counts of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage etc by deception.

The woman appeared before Sutherland Local Court on Friday, where she was granted conditional bail and scheduled to reappear before the same court on July 1.

Police are continuing their investigations.
