Sydney police chase ends with car smashing into house, another off a cliff in Illawong

A driver is on the run after allegedly sending a parked car smashing into a home and another off a 10m cliff in a dramatic police chase in Sydney’s south overnight.

Police tried to stop a grey Ford Ranger after it was allegedly speeding on Alfords Point Rd, Menai about 12.30am Tuesday.

The driver allegedly refused to pull over, sparking a police chase along Fowler Rd, Illawong.

It only came to a stop when the Ford reversed into the front of a police car and crashed into parked vehicles, sending one through a garage door and another plummeting 10m over a cliff edge.

The driver ran from the crash, while the 25-year-old male passenger was arrested.

He was charged with being carried in a conveyance taken without the consent of the owner and will face Sutherland Local Court on September 5.
