The widow of US baseball champion Tim Wakefield — Stacy Wakefield — has tragically passed away just months after Tim’s death.
Tim Wakefield was a former pitcher for the Boston Red Sox and two-time World Series champion. He died five months ago at the age of 57 after battling brain cancer.
Stacy’s family have now confirmed her death through a statement from the Boston Red Sox.

They said the 53-year-old died at her home in Massachusetts.
“She was surrounded by her family and dear friends, as well as her wonderful caretakers and nurses,” the statement said.
“The loss is unimaginable, especially in the wake of losing Tim just under five months ago.
“Our hearts are beyond broken.”
Both Tim and Stacy were were well respected members of the community and highly regarded for their charity work in Boston.
The couple are said to have helped raise funds for multiple charities, including the Red Sox Foundation and a child cancer charity.
It has been reported that Stacy had been battling pancreatic cancer, but the family only mentioned a diagnosis in the statement.
“We would like to thank all of Stacy’s doctors, nurses, and caretakers who helped her from diagnosis to today — we are eternally grateful for your unmatched care and support,” they said.
“And to all of you who have sent well wishes over these last several months, we truly appreciate your kindness.”
It was mentioned on a podcast last year by Tim Wakefield’s former teammate Curt Schilling that both Tim and Stacy had cancer, with Stacy diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
“We will remember Stacy as a strong, loving, thoughtful and kind person, who was as down-to-earth as they come,” the family said.
“We feel so lucky to have had her in our lives, and we take comfort in the fact that she will be reunited with Tim, the love of her life.”
Stacy and Tim are survived by their two children, Trevor and Brianna.
