The WNBA has been front and center for the first time in a long time thanks to the introduction of a rookie class featuring a generational talent in No. 1 pick Caitlin Clark.
Lost in the budding “rivalry’ between Clark and Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese — the No. 7 overall pick in the draft — has been the play of No. 2 pick Cameron Brink.
Brink was drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks right after Clark went to the Indiana Fever and she’s quietly had a strong rookie season. She’s averaging 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
Unfortunately, though, there’s real fear her rookie season may be over — or at least seriously hindered — by a non-contact injury she suffered on Tuesday night.
Making a strong drive to the rack, Brink seemingly collapsed under her own weight on her left knee. She was in so much pain after the fall that she had to be carried off the court, seemingly unable to put any weight on her left leg.
