‘Sopranos’ star Drea de Matteo blasts Hollywood after OnlyFans success

Sopranos star Drea de Matteo isn’t sure she’ll ever return to Hollywood after being unable to find acting work for failing to take the COVID vaccine.

De Matteo, 52, told the Daily Mail last week she was down to her last $10 and was close to losing her home before she made the decision to join the adults-only subscription site.

“It saved us,” she admitted. “OnlyFans saved my life, 100%. I can’t believe I’m saying that, but it really did save us.”

The actress, who lost work over her refusal to get the COVID jab, said she didn’t want to join the site but added that she was out of options after the bank threatened to take her home.

“They put me into foreclosure and my house had flooded, so I was trying to sell the house quickly,” she told the outlet. “I wanted to try and sell it before they took it.”

De Matteo decided to join OnlyFans as a way to help re-establish her financial footing.

“I kept putting more pictures up,” she recalled. “I was like, ‘Holy s***.’ In five minutes, I was able to pay back Compass Real Estate, who kept the sale of my house.”

She continued, “I did it, but I didn’t want to do it. I got a lot of heat for doing it and it went f***ing viral and people went nuts.”

For $15 per month, subscribers get access to uncensored shots of the mother of two who played Adriana, the girlfriend of Michael Imperioli’s Christopher Moltisanti, for six seasons on The Sopranos.

Other celebrities who have embraced the platform include Iggy Azalea, Denise Richards, Carmen Electra, Cardi B, Bella Thorne, Tyga, and Chris Brown.

De Matteo added in a separate conversation with Fox Business that after joining the site she was shocked at how quickly the money started rolling in.

“I was surprised that I was able to save my home as quickly as I did,” the actress explained. “So, my advice to all the young ladies out there, not the young ones — I want the young ones to do other things first. The old ones. All the old ladies out there, you know, bet on yourself, man.”

“I wasn’t going to sit around and wait for my manager or for somebody to try and land me a job that I needed to get in order to take care of what needed to be taken care of. I was losing my home,” she said.

But now that restrictions have eased and she’s financially sound, de Matteo says she isn’t sure she wants to return to acting again.

“I mean, that place [Hollywood] is a freaking cesspool. I’m not gonna lie. TV sucks,” she told the Mail in a followup chat published Sunday. “There’s nothing great.”

The Emmy winner, who also appeared on Sons of Anarchy, Mayans M.C., Desperate Housewives and Shades of Blue, recounted a conversation with Sopranos creator David Chase, and executive producers Terence Winter and Matthew Wiener, when they lamented how execs were trying to push a woke agenda into TV storylines.

“They were doing a panel and they basically were like, ‘We don’t even trust the audience anymore because it’s all of this stuff that societies cram down people’s throats,’” she recalled. “It’s like, I don’t even know that it’s the audience. I think it’s more the industry. The industry has just … everything that our generation has pushed for, whether it be better television, whether it be human rights, body sovereignty, all of these things, they took it and made an aberration out of it.”

With her OnlyFans career in full flight, de Matteo doesn’t see herself going in front of the camera anytime soon.

“It would have to really be something that was meaningful to me,” she told the outlet.

The cash she earned from OnlyFans has also allowed de Matteo expanded her business interests into fashion, wither her newly launched ULTRAFREE brand.

“Anybody that wants to condemn me and put me down, go for it. I just hope you never find yourself in the position I was in to take care of two little kids,” she added.

“It saved my home of many years that was very important to us. And beyond all that, it has given me enough money to start up and finance ULTRAFREE,” she said.
