Snoop Dogg marked the start of the Paris Games by taking a stroll with a large, burning, conical item — the Olympic torch, of course.
The “Gin and Juice” rapper on Friday carried the flame in the final stretches of its journey through the Parisian suburb of Saint-Denis, marking the commencement of the Olympic Games in the French capital.
Social media users were delighted by Snoop’s role in the festivities, and couldn’t help but compare the torch to another item favored by the weed enthusiast.
It also inspired plenty of dad jokes, including from BBC anchor Maryan Moshiri, who attempted to rap as she commented live on air, “Luckily, whilst he was carrying the torch he didn’t drop like it’s hot, drop it like it’s hot.”
The opening ceremony begins Friday evening along the River Seine.
Snoop, whose legal name is Calvin Broadus Jr., is in the City of Light as a special correspondent for NBC.
The torch was lit in Greece in April at the ancient Olympia site and has been carried since by a relay of torchbearers, including actor Salma Hayek, who helped carry the torch from Rambouillet to Versailles on Tuesday.
