Simone Biles Wins the Gold Medal—And Her Necklace Proves She’s a GOAT

Go Team USA! Simone Biles has won her sixth career gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris today: The American gymnast cemented the top prize during the women’s gymnastics all-around competition, just days after also winning the gold medal in the team final competition, alongside teammates Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera.

Proving she’s a true GOAT—that’s greatest of all time, duh—Biles chose the perfect necklace to wear while accepting her gold medal today. The athlete wore a silver goat-shaped pendant necklace, nodding to her well-earned GOAT monicker; It’s a fitting title, given she is now the most-decorated American women’s gymnast of all time, and the U.S. gymnast with the most medals. (The last time she earned the gold medal, meanwhile, was back in 2016, at the Rio Olympics.) She now owns six Olympic gold medals, as well as one silver and two bronze medals.

Biles’s gold medal win didn’t come easily. After earning an unusually low score on the uneven bars, the athlete bounced back with a strong performance—both on the balance beam and the floor exercise, in which Biles dazzled wearing a star-spangled leotard by GK Elite. (Fun fact: Some of Team USA’s patriotic leotards featured over 10,000 crystals.)

And Biles’s winning Olympics reign may not be over just yet: Given she can still potentially participate in several more individual-skill competitions in the days ahead, Biles has the chance to add even more medals to her roster. If she does, someone needs to get her an even bigger goat necklace.
