Shots fired at two Western Sydney addresses just streets apart

A man’s body has been found in Western Sydney following two shooting incidents.

Shots were fired at two locations just streets apart, prompting a major police operation.

A shot was initially fired into a home on Antwerp St in Auburn about 10pm on Tuesday, and did not cause any injuries.

“Officers … were told a man, known to the occupants, had attempted to gain entry to the home before firing a shot,” NSW Police said.

“The man fled before police arrived.”

At least one other shot was later fired into a vehicle on Mona St address at 10.10pm and a man was wounded.

“The 55-year-old was confronted by an unknown man who then fired a shot at the car, striking him in his neck,” police said.

He was rushed to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition by paramedics.

Crime scenes have been established at both addresses, and NSW Police are investigating the matter.

Police believe both incidents are linked.

A man’s body was later found by police in Duck Creek about 2.15am on Wednesday.

The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and there is no ongoing risk to the public.

A firearm was also located at the scene and seized for forensic examination.
