One person from a food court operator was treated for smoke inhalation.

The blaze was extinguished about 1.50pm.

It is unclear what started the fire.

A Westfield Penrith spokesperson confirmed NSW Fire & Rescue evacuated the centre for a “short time”.

“The safety and wellbeing of our customers, business partners and people is our highest priority,” the spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au.

“Our team engaged authorities over a fire within a food court tenancy earlier this afternoon. Our fire systems were activated and extinguished the fire.

“Our centre remains open, with the food court area and three stores nearby currently cordoned off.

“We are supporting those business partners impacted to recommence trade as soon as possible.”
