Sedalia Silver Swifties unveil new routine featuring Taylor Swift, Beastie Boys

SEDALIA, Mo. — After FOX4 first introduced you to Sedalia’s Silver Swifties they made online appearances in “People Magazine” and “USA Today.”

At the unveiling of a new routine featuring three new songs and three familiar favorites, members of the Primrose Retirement Community held up signs that read “you made us viral. Of course for some the question still remains, “actually, what’s viral?”

It’s the “Final Countdown” before the Super Bowl for about 30 members of a life enrichment class hoping to grab that Lombardi Trophy. They’ve “Swag Surfed” and endeared themselves to “Red Kingdom” in videos that have received hundreds of thousands of views.

“It’s the best time I’ve had in a long time,” Joyce Whitacre said.

So Thursday after two weeks of intense rehearsals these Chiefs fans paid homage to the artist who inspired their name opening up their montage with “Look What You Made Me Do.”

“I think it’s great. They are excited about the Super Bowl. I know for my mom she is watching football now and excited about it and a big Chiefs fan all of the sudden,” Kathi Smith said of her 90 year-old mother who says she enjoys seeing Swift at the games.

Of course many of these die hard Chiefs remember the first Super Bowl and Chiefs first championship 54 years ago.

“When Len Dawson played and I went to Denver and watched him play there,” Rosemarie Mables said.

Now they are helping the Chiefs fight for Super Bowl LVIII with a boxing routine set to “Eye of the Tiger.”

“It’s so exciting. I love it and they are so excited and they are being celebrities in this town and just really making Sedalia proud,” Missy Schibi said.

And even as some of them in their 90s, they are fighting for something else.

“You gotta fight for your right to party,” they ended their routine in the spirit of Travis Kelce.
