“We wish to express the gratitude and respect we have for one another as we continue our journeys on different paths.
“We won’t be commenting further on this and really appreciate your respect and privacy at this time.”
Irwin first met Buckey, the niece of late Australian actor Heath Ledger, sometime in 2022 but the couple did not publicly debit their relationship until July 2023.
It’s not entirely clear how Buckey, whose family is based in Perth, first met Irwin, who is based with his family in Queensland.
The couple often shared pictures of each other on social media, with Buckey also starring in some of Irwin’s viral TikToks.
In December last year, Buckey announced that she was joining Australia Zoo, changing her Instagram bio to describe herself as a “Wildlife Warrior”.
“I am honoured to be part of groundbreaking research on crocodiles in remote North Queensland,” she wrote at the time.
