A young motorcyclist caught riding at more than double the speed limit on a NSW road made a surprising comment to police who pulled him over.
His motorcycle was detected travelling at 145km/h on the Oxley Hwy at Port Macquarie, which is a 70km/h zone, about 9.55pm on Saturday.
NSW Police immediately pulled over the 22-year-old rider, who then produced his Provisional P1 licence — which prohibits him from riding faster than 90km/h.

The rider had a simple take on the situation, telling officers: “That was stupid.”

He was issued an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h as a P1 driver, which incurs a $2,794 penalty and the loss of six demerit points.
His licence was confiscated and suspended for six months, and the registration plate of his motorcycle was confiscated for three months.
