Rider thrown from his motorcycle dies after sliding into ute at highway intersection north of Dubbo

A motorcyclist has died after a crash at an intersection in Dubbo’s north on Thursday evening.

The 62-year-old man was riding north when he “collided briefly” with a ute at the intersection of Troy Bridge Rd and Newell Hwy about 5.15pm, NSW Police told 7NEWS.com.au.

“He was thrown from his motorcycle at the intersection of Troy Bridge Rd,” NSW Police said in a statement on Friday.

“The rider then slid into the ute.”

The ute driver and others in the area stopped to provide assistance to the rider, who had sustained critical injuries.

The 62-year-old man was taken to Dubbo Hospital, where he died a short time later.

The driver of the ute was also taken to Dubbo Hospital for mandatory testing.

Anyone with dashcam footage or information relating to the crash is urged to contact crime Stoppers.

Investigations are ongoing.
