The San Francisco 49ers have one less possible trading partner for disgruntled star receiver Brandon Aiyuk, according to a new report.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the New England Patriots have withdrawn from trade talks for Aiyuk.
Matt Maiocco from NBC Sports reported Monday night that the Patriots and Cleveland Browns had agreed to trade parameters with the 49ers but a deal was not going to be completed unless Aiyuk had agreed to a contract with one of the teams.
Aiyuk, 26, is entering the final season of his rookie contract but is staying off the field at training camp while waiting for a long-term extension.
“I’m not going any specifics with offers, contracts, trades, anything like that. But what I can tell you guys is nothing has changed,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said earlier Tuesday. “A lot was out yesterday and stuff, but from the situation that we’re in with Brandon, nothing’s changed.”
Aiyuk recorded a career-high 1,375 yards on 75 catches last season with seven touchdowns to earn second-team All-Pro honours.
