Bronny James will remain in the NBA Draft after all and forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The NCAA’s deadline to withdraw is Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. ET / 8:59 p.m. PT.
Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul told ESPN: “He’s staying in the draft.”
The 19-year-old son of LeBron James announced in April on his Instagram account his decision to enter the draft after one season at Southern California.
He suffered cardiac arrest on July 20 during a workout at the Galen Center and was found to have a congenital heart defect that was treatable.
James, a six-foot-four combo guard, didn’t make his college debut until Dec. 10. Afterward, James appeared in front of the media for less than a minute to thank the doctors, athletic trainers and support system that helped him return to play.
James averaged 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds while starting six of 25 games for the USC Trojans. He shot 37 per cent from the field, 27 per cent from 3-point range and 68 per cent from the free throw line.
ESPN has James listed at No. 54 in their top 100 prospect rankings.
