As the Boston Red Sox look to return to the post-season over the coming years, they’ll have their World Series-winning manager at the helm.
According to a report by The New York Post‘s Jon Heyman, the Red Sox and Alex Cora are finalizing a three-year extension that will be worth over $7 million per season.
Cora entered 2024 in the final year of his contract with Boston, fuelling some speculation that the 48-year-old could be headed elsewhere in 2025.
But with the Red Sox’s resurgence this season, along with a farm system with talent nearing the major leagues, Cora will be the one leading the organization on the field in the coming years.
Since being tabbed as Boston’s manager in 2018, Cora has a 494-416 record, including a 54-46 marking in 2024.
The former MLB shortstop did miss the 2020 season after being suspended for one year due to his role in the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal.
Cora led the Red Sox to a 108-54 record and a World Series title in 2018.
