The New York Rangers are getting a boost with the return of Filip Chytil.
The forward, who was expected to miss the rest of the season after aggravating an upper-body injury in late January, is back in the lineup for Game 3 of the team’s second-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday.
Chytil will take the place of tough guy Matt Rempe.
Chytil last played Nov. 2. On Jan. 28, the Rangers announced Chytil had experienced a setback and would miss the remainder of the season.
That day, he was down for several minutes and was eventually helped off the ice by teammates Zac Jones and Jake Leschyshyn before being tended to by team trainers.
“The organization’s top priority throughout this process has been Filip’s health and we will continue to fully support him in his recovery with an aim to return for the 2024-25 season,” the Rangers said in a press release on Jan. 28.
Chytil played in 10 games for the Rangers this season, notching six assists in those outings.
