PlayStation Plus subscribers are counting down to the Essentials reveal for May 2024. The next wave of free PS4 and PS5 games will be available to PS Plus subscribers on every tier. Barring any last minute leaks or surprises (and Daily Express will keep this article updated with all the latest developments), the next batch of PlayStation Plus games will be officially unveiled at 4.30pm BST UK time on the afternoon of May 1. The slightly delayed PlayStation Plus reveal means the games won’t actually be available to download until the morning of May 7. The only positive is that subscribers have slightly longer to download the current line-up, which includes Immortals of Aveum, Minecraft Legends and Skul: The Hero Slayer.
Needless to say, in the run up to the big reveal, PlayStation Plus subscribers have been attempting to predict the Essentials line-up on Reddit.
The monthly predictions thread sees subscribers attempt to guess which PS4 and PS5 games will join the line-up.
Annual football game EA Sports FC 24 is one of the favourites to join PS Plus in May, and with good reason.
As pointed out by the Reddit thread, Sony has added an Electronic Arts game in May for the past few years.
EA published racing game GRID Legends joined PS Plus last year, FIFA 22 joined in 2022, and Battlefield V was added in May 2021.
After impressing fans with a recent gameplay reveal, roguelike action game Hades is also tipped to appear in May, alongside Call of Duty: Vanguard, LEGO Marvel Superheroes and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion.
That’s on top of games like Sonic Frontiers, Forspoken, Wild Hearts, Frostpunk, Nier Automata and Cult of the Lamb.
With Star Wars Jedi Survivor recently appearing on Xbox Game Pass, some users think it may also join PS Plus.
Likewise, the Dead Space Remake could also make an appearance, especially as it’s published by Electronic Arts.
