PlayStation Plus subscribers are counting down to the reveal of the free PS4 and PS5 games for August 2024. The next wave of PS Plus Essentials will be officially unveiled by Sony at 4.30pm BST UK time on July 31. The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games will be available to download and play less than a week later on the morning of August 6. Daily Express will update this article when the official line-up is announced by Sony, and with any leaks and rumours leading up to the big reveal. With the next wave of PS Plus games launching next week, you have until August 6 to grab the current line-up, which include Borderlands 3, Among Us and NHL 24.
Without any leaks to go on, PS Plus subscribers have been attempting to guess the line-up in the regular predictions thread over on Reddit.
Games with multiple predictions include Hi-Fi Rush, which is a rhythm action game developed by the now defunct Tango Gameworks.
Armed with a guitar, the game tasks players with taking down an evil tech megacorp in time with the music.
“Tackle a wide range of corporate drones (like, actual robots with jobs) in satisfying, rhythm-boosted combat,” reads the official description.
“Your actions automatically sync up to the music, but get into the groove and Chai can pull off devastating Beat Hits, extra-flashy combos, team-up attacks with their allies, show-stopping special moves and more!
“Expand Chai’s skills with upgrades and turn every encounter into your own “animated music video” moment as you reach for those covetous S-Rank scores.”
First-person puzzle game Viewfinder also gets a mention. The game tasks players with manipulating the environment using a special camera that can create new routes and locations.
Having launched back in 2021, others believe Resident Evil Village will finally make its way to PlayStation Plus in August.
The game takes place in a creepy European village beset by monsters. It once again utilises a first-person perspective, although players can switch to third-person for a more traditional Resident Evil experience.
It’s even playable in virtual reality via the PSVR 2 headset, which is currently reduced by a whopping £180 at Argos.
Needless to say, other predictions include Sonic Frontiers, Little Nightmares 2, Hades, High on Life, Deathloop, Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, Dead Space, Suicide Squad and Like a Dragon Ishin.
Other fans believe Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 will make an appearance, alongside the likes of Dying Light 2, Stray, Dead Island 2, Call of Duty Vanguard and Forspoken.
While we’ll have to wait a little longer for the August PS Plus games, Sony has already announced one of the games coming to the service in September.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will be available for PS Plus Essential subscribers on the morning of September 3.
The game features a single-player campaign, as well as co-operative and competitive online multiplayer.
