Princess Anne in hospital with minor injuries and concussion after ‘incident’ on Gatcombe Park estate

Princess Anne is in hospital after sustaining “minor injuries and a concussion” in an incident on Sunday evening.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the 73-year-old, the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth, remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a “precautionary measure” following the “incident” while walking on the grounds of Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire.

While the exact cause of her injuries is unconfirmed, it’s understood the Princess sustained minor head wounds which are consistent with a potential impact from a horse’s head or legs.

“(She) is expected to make a full and swift recovery,” the palace said.

“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to the princess for a speedy recovery.”

Anne will miss several engagements, including the state banquet for the Japanese state visit on Tuesday and a visit to Canada.

She is one of the hardest working members of the royal family, having stepped in and taken more duties in light of Charles’ cancer diagnosis.
