“Long story short, I’m lucky to be alive. Short story long, I wrote an album,” she said on Tuesday night.

“It begins with The End. Out now.” she said before tagging Lupus Research Alliance and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own tissues and organs, causing inflammation.

Some of the lyrics in the song describe her medical struggles.

“Every couple of years now, a doctor says I’m sick. Pulls out a brand-new bag of tricks,” she sings.

“And then they lay it on me. And at first, it was my brain, then a skeleton in pain. And I don’t like to complain, but I’m saying sorry.”

Halsey ends the song: “And I know it’s not the end of the world, but could you pick me up at eight?”

“Cause my treatment starts today.”

Along with the announcement she shared a series of photos summarising her health journey.

In the first clip, she was seen rubbing her legs as she told the camera, “Seriously … I feel like an old lady.

“I told myself I’m giving myself two more years to be sick.

“At 30 I’m having a rebirth, I’m not going to be sick and I’m going to look super hot and have lots of energy and I’m going to get to redo my 20s in my 30s.”

Others showed her recording the album and gave a snapshot of her treatment.

Friends and followers offered support, including singer Rita Ora who commented, “I hope you’re OK beautiful lady”.

Lupus Research Alliance said: “Thank you @iamhalsey for bravely sharing your story.

“Sending our support and best wishes. Congrats on the release of your new album and single, ‘The End.’ Your message is inspiring to us all.”

“Chronic illness is hell but you’re incredible,” a follower said.

“Oh angel we love you and support you so dearly! Thank you for sharing something so personal with us,” added another.

Meanwhile, others called out those speculating why the singer had been quiet on social media recently.

“I hope everyone who gave her s*** for not being chronically online feels terrible. Chronically ill and she’s still giving the world every piece of her,” a supportive fan said.

“This is one of countless reasons not to riot because a celebrity who is a stranger to you doesn’t live on your phone screen constantly. And all of you who berated her for her body changing … Shame.”
