Counterterrorism police are now involved in the investigation into the stabbing of a 22-year-old man at Sydney University on Tuesday morning.
The man was allegedly stabbed about 8.45am at Western Ave and Science Rd at the university’s Camperdown campus by a boy in army fatigues.
Paramedics treated the man for a single stab wound before taking him to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Soon after the incident, police were told another male had boarded a bus on the nearby Parramatta Rd.
“Officers arrested a 14-year-old boy near Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he is currently assisting with inquiries,” NSW Police said.
“Neither person is believed to be known to one another.”
There is no ongoing risk to the community.
The possible motive for the stabbing is not yet clear and there is “no indication” it was linked to anti-Israel protests that have been held at the university over the past two months, NSW Police Assistant Commissioner of counterterrorism Mark Walton said on Tuesday.
While the joint counterterrorism squad was investigating, “a motive or ideology… has not been determined”, Walton said.
He did, however, issue a warning to parents about the dangers of online radicalism.
“There are concerns about youth being radicalised in the online environment,” he said.
“They are embracing violent extremist ideologies and moving towards violence.
“I urge parents that are aware, that should be aware of this risk to their children, we ask that everyone should be concerned about this and reach out to authorities if they are concerned about the current consumption of extremist ideologies.”
He said the alleged offender may have been motivated by what was “likely to be categorised as mixed and unclear ideology”
“It’s certainly not a religiously related ideology.”
Sydney University said there would be an increased security presence at the campus.
“A NSW Police operation is underway on our Camperdown campus,” Sydney University said in a statement.
“As a precautionary measure, there may be an increased security and police presence on campus while investigations continue.
“The safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and members of the community is our priority, and we continue to work with authorities.
