Perry Farrell’s Wife Says He’s Seeking Medical Help Following Onstage ‘Outburst’

Etty Lau Farrell, wife of Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, revealed that the singer is seeking medical treatment after he recently threw a punch at guitarist Dave Navarro in a chaotic moment that led the band to cancel its tour.

The rocker’s wife, who has been married to the singer for over two decades, thanked fans in a social media post on Saturday for their “love and support” before providing an update on her husband.

“We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal. Perry already has appointments with a otolaryngologist and a neurologist. If you know and love Perry well, you know there’s no need for me to address the other false narratives. Our souls know,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

She continued, “With all of your love, kindness, compassion and support, you know, Perry will persevere.. He will recover. He will be happy again. He will once again be able to share his music, vision and artistry – unbridled.”

Etty Lau Farrell described her husband as “the gentlest of souls” earlier in the message.

“We are equally astonished at Perry’s physical outburst as you are – but you must know that Perry must had been pushed to his absolute limit.. to that end we apologize,” she added.

The update arrives after the iconic band’s Boston show came to an abrupt end earlier this month when Perry Farrell forcefully knocked into Navarro and later swung at his bandmate before apparent crew members and bassist Eric Avery rushed in to get hold of the singer.

The singer was reportedly in “rough shape” and later turned to “fine form” at shows just prior to the chaotic tour stop.

The band called off their next show and eventually the rest of their tour, a run that marked a reunion for the classic lineup of Perry Farrell, Navarro, Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins.

Etty Lau Farrell has previously detailed a “first person account” of the altercation where she claimed that her husband had “tinnitus and a sore throat every night” and he experienced mounting frustration on the tour.

She wrote that “he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band” at the time while claiming that Avery put the singer in a headlock before punching him in the stomach three times onstage.

Jane’s Addiction, in a social media message to fans last week, noted that the band “made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group.”

Navarro and Avery shared their concerns for Perry Farrell’s “personal health and safety” on the same day.

The frontman, in a separate statement, apologized to his bandmates and fans over what happened at the Boston show.

Perry Farrell said in a statement to Billboard, “Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”
