Pedestrian dies in hospital following crash on Old Hume Hwy, Mittagong

A man has died in hospital days after being critically injured when he was struck by a car on a New South Wales highway.

The 64-year-old pedestrian was hit by a Toyota Yaris on the Old Hume Hwy, Mittagong about 10am Monday.

Police said bystanders rushed to his aid and performed CPR and he managed to regain consciousness before paramedics arrived.

He was flown to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition, which deteriorated to critical by Tuesday.

Police on Friday confirmed the man had since died in hospital.

The driver of the Toyota Yaris, a 65-year-old man, was uninjured.

Investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
