Patrick Mahomes Sr. will still be able to cheer on his son at the Super Bowl next Sunday despite his arrest over the weekend.

Mahomes Sr. was arrested on Saturday in Tyler, Texas, on a charge of DWI for the third time or more, according to police reports.

However, Judge James Meredith, who is handling the case, told TMZ on Monday that Mahomes will be able to travel to Las Vegas for the big game.

There reportedly will be restrictions placed on the father of the Chiefs star QB — he is prohibited from consuming alcohol or illegal drugs, has an interlock device on his vehicle and will need to submit to random drug screenings.

According to online records, Mahomes Sr. was released on $10,000 bond.

The elder Mahomes was first arrested in 2014, when he was charged with possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle, but later just paid a fine.

In 2018, he was arrested for driving while intoxicated and plead guilty to the charge, He was ordered to spend 40 days in jail.

According to an affidavit, Mahomes had an open beer can in his vehicle on Saturday and was driving with a registration that expired in September 2022.

Mahomes Sr., a former MLB pitcher, has been supporting his son through Kansas City’s playoff run. He was seen celebrating on the field in Baltimore when the Chiefs defeated the host Ravens to seal their spot in this coming Sunday’s big game.

With the younger Mahomes looking to win his third Super Bowl, we can bet he is not very happy about this potential distraction so close to the game.
