Orioles’ Henderson shows off custom Scooby-Doo bat for Derby

There’s $1 million on the line at the Home Run Derby on Monday night, but would Gunnar Henderson do it for a Scooby Snack?

The answer seems to be a resounding yes, as the Orioles superstar pulled out a custom bat featuring everyone’s favourite mystery-solving dog Scooby-Doo for the annual exhibition.

“It was my favourite show as a kid so why not bring it?” Henderson told ESPN’s Buster Olney before the homers started flying on Monday. “It’s a kid’s game so why not bring it into the sport?”

Though he might be more into catching monsters, Henderson has been a monster in his own right, crushing the ball to the tune of 28 home runs this season, good for the third-most in MLB. Opposing pitchers might be seeing ghosts whenever he steps up to the plate.

He’s also been known to love himself a custom bat and show off his interests with his gear. Notably, he pulled out a Star Wars-inspired design for May the 4th earlier this year.

It takes a lot of skill and power to bat as well as he has this year, but hitting isn’t the only thing Henderson has been practicing. After talking to Olney, he made his way to ESPN’s desk to hop on the mic and show off a perfect Scooby-Doo impression. A man of many talents.
