One man has died and another rescued after their boat capsized on a Northern NSW river on Saturday morning.
The pair were crossing the Tweed River Bar near Tweed Heads after launching from the Kennedy Driver boat ramp when their 6.5m half-cabin runabout capsized about 6am.
They were seen near the North Wall of the Tweed River, clinging to the upturned hull and a rescue operation was launched involving local Tweed/Byron police, Water Police, Marine Rescue, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Surf Life Savers.

One man was rescued and taken to Tweed Heads Hospital as a precaution, while his companion was winched from the ocean by the chopper rescue crew and taken to Duranbah Beach.
He could not be revived and has yet to be identified.
Police said initial inquiries revealed neither man was wearing a life jacket, however their investigations are continuing.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
