Hours after the Monse fall 2024 debut, co-designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia hosted an intimate celebration with friends and fashion folk. Their show day and dinner party at The Bazaar by José Andrés happened to coincide with the Chinese Lunar New Year. But, Kim actually chose September 10 so that her two closest friends and fellow New York designers, Philip Lim of 3.1 Philip Lim and Prabal Gurung, could join in on the Monse festivities. Both of whom were excited in attendance.
Toasting the year of the dragon, Kim and Garcia rose to share a few kind words with the room. “It’s a new year and a new chapter at Monse,” Kim smiled. “Everyone here with us tonight has been an incredible friend and supporter. We can’t wait to bring along to our next chapter.”
Looking out into the crowd filled with style swans like Tina Leung, Nicky Hilton, and Vogue’s Lilah Ramzi alongside Architecture Digest’s Amy Astley, First Daughter Ashley Biden, beauty mogul Tina Craig, and chef Romilly Newman, Garcia expressed his gratitude for the ever-growing Monse community. “Thank you to all the people who lifted us up during the hard times in order to get to the great ones,” Garcia explained. “It’s been 15 years since we launched Monse, and I don’t think that we would be here today without all of you.”
In true family-style fashion, a never-ending rotation of sharing plates were dropped at each table for guests to enjoy together. The Spanish-fusion menu included classics like tomato bread and patatas bravas in addition to innovative recipes like sea scallop crudo, Japanese fried chicken, tuna empanadillas, and a seaweed salad. Of course, the cocktails and wine were flowing while attendees chatted about their NYFW highlights.
As we enter the second half of the fashion week marathon, the fatigue usually starts to settle in but that didn’t stop guests from staying out way past midnight. With Monse, it’s clear that friends are more than front-row attendees, dinner party guests, and models—they are family.
