Oilers beat Stars to take 3-2 lead in WCF

The Edmonton Oilers are one win away from the Stanley Cup Final.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored two power-play goals and Stuart Skinner made 19 saves to lead the Oilers to a 3-1 win over the Dallas Stars on Friday night at American Airlines Center in Dallas to go up 3-2 in the Western Conference Final.

Edmonton can punch its ticket to the Cup Final Sunday at Rogers Place, its home arena, at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Defenseman Philip Broberg added his first career playoff goal and rearguard Evan Bouchard had two assists as the Oilers stifled the Stars offense. Dallas only managed 10 shots through the first two periods.

Neither team had scored a power-play goal in the series, and Edmonton had only been successful on one of its last 16 man-advantage opportunities before Nugent-Hopkins’ first power-play goal gave it a 1-0 lead with 5:51 left in the first period.
