This eBay listing for Oasis “tickets” serves as a caution to always scrutinise the fine detail.
After tickets for Oasis’s highly anticipated 2025 reunion tour were snapped up in a flash on Saturday (31st August), scores of fans who didn’t strike lucky were left gutted.
However, there’s a glimmer of hope with the release of a limited number of Oasis resale tickets today (2nd September), though they’ll be scarce and you’ll need to act fast to snag them.
These limited tickets come after the band issued a stark warning against purchasing through unofficial channels at exorbitant rates, emphasising that only resale tickets bought via Ticketmaster and Twickets will be honoured.
An eBay item, supposedly selling “Oasis tickets” for the relatively modest sum of £180 each, caught the attention of eagle-eyed Redditors for not quite ringing true. The posting, which was subject to scrutiny on the CasualUK subreddit, seemed to show several tickets up for grabs for an Oasis gig at Wembley Stadium in July next year.
The listing describes the item as a “must-have” for anyone who “wants to experience the iconic band’s live performances”, and as a “great addition to any music memorabilia collection”. It also touts the item as a “piece of Oasis history”, but as you delve deeper into the product description, some warning signs begin to emerge.
Initially, the listing encourages fans to “get their hands on this original Oasis,” which doesn’t quite add up grammatically when referring to the band. It then mentions that the “tickets” prominently feature “the band’s name”, which seems an unusual detail to emphasise for what is supposed to be a concert ticket.
However, it transpires that the listing isn’t for tickets at all. The final two sentences of the product description reveal: “These are not actual tickets. What you are buying are Oasis bottle wrappers.”
Despite the advisory, sellers have been attempting to cash in on desperate fans by offering tickets at sky-high prices, prompting calls for fans to stay vigilant against potential scams.
Selling tickets for events is forbidden on eBay. Any Oasis enthusiasts who missed out on tickets on Saturday should only purchase resale tickets through Ticketmaster or Twickets.
Reddit users who commented on the post that highlighted the fraudulent listing urged the poster who identified it to report it to eBay for removal.
As they concealed the seller’s name in their post, it’s uncertain whether it has been removed at the time of writing, but our search for “Oasis tickets” on the site only yielded used souvenir tickets from past tours.
One individual urged action, saying: “Please report this to eBay. Although, anyone with half a brain shouldn’t fall for this since you’re not allowed to sell concert tickets on there anyway.”
Another chimed in with advice: “That should be reported to eBay for misinformation. The blurb obviously states what it is but the title is very misleading and I bet not everyone will read the blurb and assume they’re getting tickets.”
eBay has been contacted for comment.
