At the time of the alleged incident, the boy was 13-years-old.
The alleged offences took place in a two-month period between 1 June 2017 and 25 July 2017, which is Amon’s birthday.
NSW Police said detectives started an investigation in June 2022 after the alleged 2017 assault in Mona Vale, on Sydney’s northern beaches, was reported.
They were told a teenage boy had been allegedly sexually assaulted by a man who was known to him.
Amon was listed to appear at Manly Local Court on Friday, where his lawyers put forward then withdrew an application to suppress his name in the media.

Amon’s profile on the NSW Liberal website, and his Facebook page, have been removed. His personal website remains active.
Amon is the member for Pittwater and the shadow assistant minister for planning and public spaces, housing and youth.
Before entering politics, he worked as a family lawyer.
Leader of the Opposition Mark Speakman acknowledged the serious nature of the charges and confirmed Amon’s resignation from the Liberal Party and NSW Parliament.
His resignation is effective immediately.
