Norfolk Southern CEO to step down amid misconduct probe: Reports

(NewsNation) — Norfolk Southern CEO Alan Shaw is expected to step down from his role amid an investigation into allegations of potential misconduct, according to multiple reports.

The railroad said Sunday it was reviewing allegations Shaw violated company policy but did not provide additional details.

CNBC reported that Norfolk Southern was investigating whether Shaw “engaged in an inappropriate workplace relationship.”

Now, Shaw is expected to leave the company as soon as this week, according to The Wall Street Journal, which cited people familiar with the matter. Reuters also reported that Shaw intends to step down.

Shaw’s expected departure comes after a tumultuous couple of years in charge of the Atlanta-based railroad.

Since taking over in May 2022, he’s faced criticism for the company’s handling of the toxic East Palestine, Ohio, derailment and also had to fend off an activist investor’s attempt to oust him.
