There’s good news and bad news for Nintendo fans, as the company announces plans to hold a major Direct conference later this week. The good news is that the presentation will showcase the new Nintendo Switch games launching in the second half of 2024. This means we’ll find out what sort of games we’ll be playing this Christmas. The bad news, however, is that Nintendo has shut down rumours that the Switch 2 will be officially unveiled during the event. Still, running at around 40 minutes, the next Nintendo Direct is shaping up to be a pretty epic presentation packed full of big games. If you want to see what Nintendo has in store for this year, then you can watch the Nintendo Direct conference live from 3pm BST UK time on the afternoon of June 18. Daily Express will update this article with the YouTube video before the Direct kicks off, so keep checking back to watch the event unfold live.
The news was announced by Nintendo in a social media post: “Tune in on Tuesday, 18 June at 15:00 UK time for a Nintendo Direct livestream featuring roughly 40 minutes of information focused on Nintendo Switch games coming in the second half of 2024.
“There will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during this presentation.”
In terms of what fans can expect, fans will be praying for a closer look at Hollow Knight Silksong, as well as an official release date.
The sequel to the hugely popular Metroidvania release has been making plenty of headlines in recent months, receiving age ratings in international markets and appearing on the Xbox Store.
With a release date seemingly imminent and after failing to appear during the Xbox Showcase and Summer Games Fest, there’s a strong chance Silksong could finally make its return during the June Direct.
Needless to say, Daily Express will keep this story updated with all the latest developments, so keep checking back for more information.
While an appearance by Hollow Knight Silksong is up in the air, two games almost certain to be showcased are Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD and Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition.
Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition features over 150 speedrunning challenges from 13 classic Nintendo Entertainment System games.
Nintendo Switch players will attempt to earn the fastest time possible in challenges such as collecting coins in Super Mario Bros, to reaching the gate in the original Metroid.
Your best times can be shared with the world, as part of weekly competitions that aim to replicate the thrills and excitement of the actual Nintendo World Championships from 1990, 2015 and 2017.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, on the other hand, is a visually enhanced version of the classic 3DS adventure.
