(NewsNation) — Republican presidential candidate and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is not leaving the 2024 race anytime soon.
The “majority of Americans dislike both (Joe Biden and Donald Trump). … We are giving them a choice,” Haley said during an exclusive interview with NewsNation Chief Washington Correspondent Blake Burman.
Haley told Burman she’s focused on winning South Carolina first.
“This is not something where we anoint a king in America. We can’t just say after two states that it’s over. Everybody deserves the right to vote,” Haley said.
Haley gave a speech Tuesday in South Carolina announcing she is not dropping out of the GOP primary race despite Trump’s significant lead ahead of her.
Haley, who also served as United Nations ambassador in Trump’s administration, said calls for her to drop out have come from the “political elite.” She also says Trump isn’t actually focused on the American people.
Ahead of South Carolina’s primary, polling shows Haley is more than 20 points behind Trump.
