A school bus driver in Niagara Falls is facing impaired driving charges after a crash involving a garbage truck in the city’s end.

Niagara Regional Police said officers were called to the Montrose Rd.-Lundy’s Lane area west of the QEW on Monday at 3:05 p.m. after reports of a motor-vehicle crash. Investigators said a man operating a school bus was allegedly involved in a “minor collision” with a garbage truck and drove away without stopping.

“The garbage truck driver decided to follow the bus until it stopped in the area of Pitton Rd. in the city of Niagara Falls,” Niagara Regional Police said in a news release.

“Officers attended the scene and as a result of the investigation, the school bus driver was placed under arrest. There were no students on the bus at the time of the offence.”

Devon D. Dobbs, 30, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with impaired operation. He was released on an undertaking, police said.
