Earlier this week former 007 star Pierce Brosnan announced he’s backing his fellow Irishman Cillian Murphy to be the next James Bond.
The 47-year-old is all the rage right now as he’s tipped to win the Best Actor Oscar for Oppenheimer at the Academy Awards on Sunday evening.
Since he’s pushing 50, Murphy may be too old to replace Daniel Craig, but he’s certainly youthful-looking enough so you never know.
As it stands, according to Coral bookmakers, his chances of being cast as the next Bond are 10-1, the same as Callum Turner.
Here’s a list of the other stars in the race to be cast as the seventh official 007.
Ahead of Murphy and Turner is Tom Hardy on 9-1, Regé-Jean Page on 6-1 and both James Norton and Damson Idris on 9-2.
In second place is Casino Royale auditions runner-up Henry Cavill on 7-2.
But the frontrunner continues to be Aaron Taylor-Johnson at 2-1, following rumours last year that he had a secret meeting with Barbara Broccoli.
