No Zion Williamson, no problem.
The New Orleans Pelicans punched their ticket to the NBA playoffs with a 105-98 win over the Sacramento Kings in the West Play-In finale on Friday. Coming into the night the Pelicans were 5-0 against the Kings this season and the dominance continued with the blowout victory.
New Orleans will now take on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the No. 1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.
The status of Pelicans star forward, Williamson, remains unclear ahead of the first-round matchup as he deals with a hamstring injury suffered in the team’s Play-In loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday. Williamson was having one of the best games of his career, putting up 40 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists before leaving a tied ball game in the fourth quarter.
The Pelicans will need another team effort like the win against the Kings when they take on the Thunder as Oklahoma City won the season series two games to one. In the one contest Williamson missed, New Orleans lost by 24 points.
More to come…
