De Goey was last seen in Round 7 during the Pies’ epic draw with Essendon, but has not been in action since.

Reports later emerged that he was battling osteitis pubis (an inflammation between the left and right pubic bones that creates pain and loss of power and can potentially be problematic for months), but Collingwood has refused to confirm that suspicion.

7NEWS chief AFL reporter Mitch Cleary has now revealed De Goey has visited medicos at MSAC (Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre) in Albert Park on Wednesday (today).

It was a day off for Collingwood players but de Goey was there to receive additional work on the “troublesome” groin.

“De Goey will need to pass main training tomorrow and prove he’s got his explosive power back in order to face the Crows on Saturday,” Cleary said.

Cleary also revealed that De Goey completed a 10km session last weekend.

The Pies are dealing with a mini injury crisis, with Jamie Elliott (vascular), Jeremy Howe (groin), and Brody Mihocek (hamstring) all on the sidelines.

Last week they were also missing Tom Mitchell (appendix) and Beau McCreery (concussion).

After a sluggish start to the season, the reigning premiers forced their way back into the top eight on Sunday after they thrashed West Coast at Marvel Stadium.

They are in desperate need to get De Goey fit and firing.

He has averaged under 22 disposals this season and his disposal efficiency is at a career low 58.2 per cent.
