Multiple injured as ferris wheel bursts into flames at Highfield Festival in Germany’s Leipzig region

At least 30 people have been injured at a music festival in Germany as a ferris wheel burst into flames.

Revellers at the Highfield Festival at Lake Störmthal in the Leipzig region were on board the ferris wheel when it burst into flames about 9pm local time on Saturday.

Local media has reported that two people were seriously injured.

Four police officers were also reportedly injured in the incident.

The majority of injuries are smoke related.

The festival has approximately 30,000 attendees each year and has been running for more than 20 years.

US rapper Macklemore is set to headline the festival tomorrow.

He is touring Europe following his Australian appearances in May.
