Non-binary activist ‘Woke Kindergarten,’ who refers to Israel as a “made-up place,” has been hired by New York City’s Museum of Modern Art to lead a workshop about Martin Luther King and climate change.

Woke Kindergarten is a pedagogy that is pro-black, queer and transgender liberation created by abolitionist early educator Akiea ‘Ki’ Gross, who uses they/them pronouns.

They have previously made headlines for an audiobook suggesting children can use “tree” as a pronoun.
Gross’s MoMA workshop – on MLK Family Day – focused on Martin Luther King Jr.’s relationship to climate justice.
The event, recommended for families with children age six and up, included such activities as building a model of a structure to improve your community and packaging hygiene kits for unhoused neighbours, the U.K.’s Daily Mail reported.
“At MoMA, we celebrate creativity, openness, tolerance, and generosity. We aim to be an inclusive place – both onsite and online – where diverse cultural, artistic, social, and political positions are welcome,” an event description read.

“We have a zero-tolerance policy for individuals who engage in verbal or physical harassment, discriminatory or threatening behavior, or hate speech, or who otherwise interfere with the experience of others. The Museum will refuse or revoke program entrance/participation to individuals who violate these policies.”
Gross is active on Instagram account Woke Kindergarten, posting words for the day that are meant to teach the “language of the resistance.”
A post defining the word ceasefire reads: “One place that people are demanding a permanent ceasefire for is in Palestine because they are being occupied, or controlled, by a made-up place called Israel that has settlers called Zionist who are harming and killing the Palestinian people who have always live on the land.”
