Mitch McConnell Booed At Republican National Convention

Attendees booed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell after he briefly appeared on screen Monday at the Republican National Convention.

HuffPost’s Igor Bobic captured the moment on the convention floor in Milwaukee when McConnell’s face appeared shortly after former President Donald Trump announced Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance as his running mate for the 2024 election.

McConnell was booed once again when he appeared on screen to announce the votes for delegates of Kentucky for Trump.

Asked by HuffPost if he was confident about the future of U.S. support for Ukraine following Vance’s announcement as VP, McConnell didn’t directly answer, calling the Ohio senator a “great choice.”

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) said in February that McConnell is “bubble-wrapped.”

“McConnell’s problem is that he doesn’t actually talk to or listen to voters or his members. … I don’t think I’ve had a conversation with McConnell in over a year,” Hawley said, according to CNN.

McConnell announced in February that he would step down from his Senate position in January.
