New Canaan police officer Kelly Coughlin is on the stand.

She is also a liaison officer with New Canaan Country Day school – where Jennifer Dulos’ children attended at the time she disappeared.

Coughlin testified that she reviewed surveillance video that showed Jennifer’s SUV at the school at 8.03 on 24 May 2019 – the day she was last seen.

Police say Jennifer dropped her children off at the private school before she went missing.

Romano continues to testify on video footage that was obtained from one of Jennifer’s neighbors.

It shows her car leaving twice, but only returns once – at 8:05am.

The second time the car leaves, it does not return.

“I took over securing the vehicle and made sure no one touched it until we decided what to do with it,” he testified. “There was nothing remarkable about it except it looked like something had been wiped off the passenger side and marks that appeared to be blood.”

The court has taken a lunch recess, the trial will resume at 2pm.

Retired sergeant Scott Romano said he was called on the night that Jennifer went missing.

Mr Romano’s main task was to secure the SUV parked on the side of the road.

He told the court it appeared the car had been wiped off on the passenger side and had marks that appeared to be blood.

Law enforcement then canvassed the neighbourhood and determined which houses would have a clear view of the section of the road where Jennifer’s vehicle was abandoned.

Surveillance footage from one of those houses showed Jennifer’s vehicle leaving her cul-de-sac and returning. The driver left for a second time and never returned.

After almost five years, the tragic case of Jennifer Dulos has finally made its way into a courtroom in Connecticut as the trial of her dead husband Fotis Dulos’ lover Michelle Troconis gets underway.

Under cross-examination by the defence, Lt Lataourette says a K-9 searched the hiking trails but did not immediately pick up a scent.

The K-9, its handler and Lt Lataourette returned to Dulos’ home and went into the garage, where the dog was given Jennifer’s jacket so it could pick up her scent.

Defence attorney Jon Schoenhorn asked Lt Lataourette if he believed there would be a lot of traffic on Lapham Road on the day that Jennifer went missing. Lt Lataourette answered yes.

Jennifer Dulos’ vehicle was found in a section of Waveny Park and Lapham Road.

The state is now questioning Lt Lataourette on what appeared to be a bloody footprint found on the floor of Dulos’ garage. An area of the concrete floor was reddish, as if someone had cleaned a large blood strain, Lt Lataourette testified.

At that point, the garage was determined to be a crime scene.

Law enforcement responding to the missing person report noticed what appeared to be blood splatter on the SUV in Jennifer’s garage.

Lt Lataourette and another police officer are heard discussing the possibility that the driver may have hit a deer.

Jennifer’s keys, purse, and what appeared to be the jacket she wore that day, were found in the home.

“It doesn’t sit well with me,” one of the officers is heard saying.

Investigators meticulously searched Jennifer’s home shortly after she was reported missing. Bodycam footage showed they entered several rooms in the massive house.

Lt Lataourette said that upon arriving at the home, he noticed that all the doors had been secured.

Law enforcement entered the garage after the babysitter gave them a garage code.

Lt Lataourette testified that he ran the license plates of an SUV in the garage.

“While we waited, I noticed what appeared to be red, blood in the front of that vehicle,” Lr Lataourette told the court. “A red mark in the grill part of the vehicle. And it caught my attention because it did not match the colour of the grill.”
