Megyn Kelly rips Drew Barrymore’s cringe moment with Kamala Harris

Drew Barrymore’s sit down with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris was a cringe moment for the fawning daytime TV show host, Megyn Kelly says.

The conservative commentator blasted Barrymore’s interview, aired Monday, for her over-the-top flattery as Harris brought up her belly laugh, which some people have mocked, while Kelly also came down hard on the v-p as well.

Harris told Barrymore that she inherited her laugh from her mother, something the actress said she loved while crowding the v-p’s space on the couch, and defended the way she shares her joy. She ended the anecdote with advice to not change who you are for other people.

“I think it’s really important for us to remind each other and our younger ones, don’t be confined to other people’s perception about what this looks like and how you should act in order to be right,” Harris said. “It’s really important.”

Kelly was not impressed by her message and hated everything about the short clip.

“My God, it’s classic, classic Kamala Harris trying to offer fake profundities with her fake affect when she’s saying nothing,” Kelly said alongside Michael Knowles, host of The Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles Show.

“She delivers her normal air sandwich. And even worse, Michael, is Drew Barrymore leaning in for the listening audience. She leans in, she must be three inches away from Kamala Harris.

“Even Kamala Harris has got to be uncomfortable. I feel like the Secret Service is probably like, ‘A little farther away, madam.’”

Kelly said Harris’s belly laugh is used at “very odd times” as a “deflection” or “protective mechanism.”

“She’s inappropriate with the laugh,” Kelly said. “No one gives a s*** that she got the laugh from the mother. What you are seeing up there is entirely performative by both women.”

Elsewhere in The Drew Barrymore Show clip, Harris spoke about being the first female v-p and how some were not happy about that fact.

“You were asking me earlier about what it means to be like, the first woman (vice-president),” Harris said to Barrymore.

“And you know, it’s funny because people still gotta get used to this, right?”

Harris added that misogyny may have led to criticisms of her laugh or other mannerisms she has that men might not exhibit.

“I mean, my staff for example, sometimes they’ll show me little things that just amuse me. Like, apparently some people love to talk about the way I laugh,” Harris said.
